DESIGN PROCESS
Pictures, sketches, magazine articles or just an idea
are all that's required to get started. From the first meeting
to the final blueprint, we are constantly gathering information
that will be helpful in the design process. Once we have the
initial information, we can give you an estimate of the total
cost and an approximate completion date. We do require a 50%
deposit to begin, but once that's settled, it's on to the
drawing board.
Preliminary Stage
Our concentration is centered on the floor plans, but
there is a considerable amount of time working on the
elevations and rooflines. Upon completion of the preliminary
floor plan(s) and elevations, you will be given a copy to
review. After you have reviewed the design we will then set
up another meeting to discuss any changes. Assuming there are
no major issues to be addressed in the design, we then make
those changes. This can, and most likely will, happen a few
times to get the design tweaked to exactly what you want. At
this point we recommend getting some pricing from builders,
unless you have already chosen one. If the price falls in
line with your budget and the design has met your criteria,
we then move on to the next stage.
Working Drawing Stage
At this point, most of the design has been completed.
Now it's time to add the dimensions, notes, schedules and
various information required for both permitting the plan as
well as constructing the house. During this time the plan
will be sent to the engineers for the structural drawings to
be completed. It is highly recommended that all changes to
the design be made prior to this, however it is possible to
modify the plan with the understanding that there will be
additional hours added to the fee. As soon as we receive the
plans back from the engineer, we then check over the whole
plan for possible mistakes or inconsistencies. We also like
to give the client a final review set. Now, upon your final
approval, it's just a matter of running blueprints.
Final Sets
You now have finished drawings. At this time, we will
collect the balance of our fee. Although your plans are
completed, we continue to be available for any assistance we
can give. And at some point, we would love to get some
pictures and see how things are going. It is our goal to
serve you and gain your trust and the proof of that
relationship is the recommendations we receive from you.
